Obtaining a library card is simple. Just stop in and fill out a registration card.
You must show a valid picture ID or other proof of residence, a driver’s license, or a printed check.
If you are under 16, you will need a parent or guardian to show the proper ID and sign a statement of responsibility for you.
When you get a library card, you sign an agreement to return library materials on time.
You also agree to take care of library materials so that they are in good shape for the next user.
When the library is open, you can return materials to the circulation desk or the drop box.
Make sure VHS videos are rewound and in their proper cases and that all audio CDs and DVDs are accounted for.
Please do not put VHS, DVD's, or music CD's in the drop boxes as it damages the case.
What if I lose or damage materials?
Fines on overdue materials are set by the owning library, and may be collected at any of the MORE libraries.
If the material is not returned within the designated loan period, two overdue notices will be sent at 15 and 30 days, followed
by a bill at 45 days for the cost of replacement of material and a service charge for processing and cataloging.
Funds received for replacement charges for lost Balsam Lake materials will be reimbursed to the patron if the materials are returned in good condition within 30 days of paying the charges. If materials are damaged to the extent determined by the library director that they are unsuitable for the collection, the responsible party must pay the replacement cost.
The library will charge a late fee of 10 cents per day on overdue books, audio-CDs and magazines.
The late fees for DVDs are 25 cents per day. It is the customer’s responsibility to pay the overdue, damage and replacement charges.
The Balsam Lake Public Library has contracted with a collection agency to assist in recovering non-returned library materials.
All unresolved accounts over $25 will be turned over to Unique Management Services, Inc. beginning September 15th 2016.
A service charge of $10 will be added to the balance
